Comments I’ve Made in Other Places

Occasionally I will comment on, or add comments to, some of the Professional blogs or sites that I am a fan of. It’s all real, it’s not always meant to flatter, but it’s pretty much always on the mark…

Here we comment on this April 2014 article from MediaPost’s Online Video Insider segment, on a very hot topic of the moment, ‘Viewability‘.

While we have not commented much lately, we return here again, with some observations in this MediaPost article, on TV vs. Video ad budgets in the next 5 years.

From the exceptional analysis by Robert Scoble in his SAI article of 3/24/2011, entitled “MySpace’s Death Spiral:…”, we further comment [as we have been in our coursework at WebTVWorkshop since July 2010], on the firm’s move to LA…and it’s failure to gather momentum around Video/TV/Movie assets [which Fox, as part of NewsCorp, owns], as compared to Music properties [of which it owns none], all of which makes for huge, bitter irony.

In the very well written Independent Film Blog, we comment on Stacey Parks’ article, entitled, Converting Fans to Customers.

From the 12/28 edition of NewTeeVee, we offer comment on Liz Shannon Miller’s insight, in 2011 Prediction: Forget About Viral Video.

I was compelled to make some very strong comments on the 8/26 Online Video Insider column by Tod Sacerdoti, CEO of BrightRoll. See my comments following this article, entitled, Scale vs. Sizzle: The Online Ad Conundrum.

From an exceptional article today on MediaPost, entitled, MediaBank Launches ‘DSP’, I offered a couple of thoughts in the Comments section.

This is an excellent article on WebWorkerDaily that I commented on; the piece here is entitled, ‘5 Problems with Measuring Social Media Marketing’, by Aliza Sherman. [5/31/10]

The 4/30 Online Publishing Insider [a la’ MediaPost], has an article from the great Ari Rosenberg [whom I’ve loved reading for quite some time], entitled, ‘Online Video Has No Character.’ An inflammatory title if there ever was one~! I did not agree with his point here, and so HAD to weigh in…along with some other very senior people in the industry.

A great Sales blog that I found on Alltop [where MoM[S] is also featured], is the Heavy Hitters Sales Blog, by Steve W. Martin. I added a comment to his exceptional 4/1/10 piece, entitled, The Six Real Reasons Why VPs of Sales are Fired.

On today’s MediaDailyNews [3/26/10], see the MoM[S] comment for article, “In High-Stakes Ad Game, Agencies Losing Cards.”

I added a Comment to the 3/12 article on TechCrunch, entitled, “MySpace’s MidLevel Mgmt Structure is Crumbling.

From ClickZ on Jan 26, comes a Hollis Thomases article entitled, ‘Why Your Site Didn’t Make My Media Plan‘. See the article + MoM[S] comment > here. This is straight-ahead stuff, almost too easy to avoid…

After sampling an incredible new Bordeaux varietal, produced as part of a new winery started by a longtime friend of mine, I was invited to write a Review of this wine, as now seen on Wine Label World > HERE.

Starting us off in 2010, is the interesting news on TechCrunch, about Apple buying Quattro Wireless. The article & my comment are > here.

Today’s [12/1/09] iMediaConnection, in an article entitled, ‘Publishers Plan to Fight Ad Networks’, some good observations were made. See it > here.

I was invited to my first Mingling of the Minds dinner event this week, hosted by CEO Michel Bayan. Here are his comments about how the Event went: Click.

From iMedia Connection, a truly fascinating article by Eric Picard, entitled ‘The Secret Media-Buying Revolution.’ See it & my comments > here.

Excellent analysis of the ‘Content’ moves by both AOL & Yahoo!, by Diane Mermigas/ MediaPost, in her article, ‘AOL, Yahoo! Could be Smart Buys for Savvy Giant.’ Check it out > here.

From an excellent post on today’s [10/15] Online Video Insider, on the haphazard state of content monitoring by the leading Video networks, and the effect on their clients. See it > here.

Article on 10/7 in OnlineMediaDaily, on Rubicon looking to become ‘the Google of Online Display’ ads, I said this: Click Here.

From 9/19 – An exceptional article [one of many] on SalesLoudMouth, entitled ‘The Myth of Experience…‘. Read it > here.

On 9/14 – From OnlineMediaDaily, article by Mark Walsh, entitled ‘Report: TV Should be Afraid – Very Afraid – of Hulu‘. See it > here.

From 9/4 – Contributor article by Jay Friedman at iMedia, on how ‘TV Reps Will Try to Mislead You‘, a pretty brazen assertion just in the title! Talk about bomb-throwing at an entire industry going into a Holiday weekend, he does it. Despite that, some good points for discussion overall. See the column > here.

From 8/28 – It is true: I dare to comment on the writings of the great David Armano, on his Logic+Emotion blog. The article is ‘Social Media’s Top 10 Dirty Little Secrets‘. See it > here.

From 8/27 – An absolutely abysmal “article” on MediaDailyNews about the state of the Newspaper biz, that I should have been MUCH harsher on, in my Reply comment. It was such drivel, I am still in shock they put it out there. See this awful piece [if you really want to] > here.

From 8/18 – ClickZ columnist Todd Krieger, on building revenue models for Web video/short-form content. See it > here.

From 8/10 – Short on SAI about Heidi Browning leaving MySpace, their Focus Groups, etc… Read it > here.

From 7/29 – An article at OnlineMediaDaily, ‘The Truth About Ad Nets‘. See the article & my comments > here.

From 7/18 – From a BeingPeterKim article on New Hires: Buying vs. Leasing, dated 6/16. Click > here to view. [Also see my 5/30 Post on ‘Long-Term Comp’, for a similar discussion from a Sales perspective.]

From 7/16 – Silicon Alley article on Forbes.com CEO resigning. Click to read article + comment > here.

From 7/7 – gigaom blog article: “Slide Cuts Staff, Shifts Focus”. See Article & My Comment > here.

From 7/2 – ZDNet blog by Oliver Marks: “Facebook-Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory?”. Article & Comment > Here.

From 6/30 – AdPro Group on LinkedIn: A question about Trailer Park winning Orbitz biz over Mullen. Click > Here.

From 6/29 – Silicon Alley Article on AOL’s emerging Web publishing strategy. Click the Link here.

From 6/26 – My Debut on YouTube, Courtesy of Neal Schaffer of So Cal Sushi [Great Networking Events]. See it > here.

From 6/16/09 – KAN’s Twitter Account:
Sorry to hear about the ‘MySpace Massacre’ today. I think Taking Profits vs. Re-investing in the Product was a key factor here… [about 11 hours ago from web]

From 6/4/09 – ADM/Auto Digital Marketing:

From 4/6/09 – Twitter Post on a comment made to AutoNews article on GM:
just HAD to comment on the latest GM piece in AutoNews: http://www.autonews.com/art…&template=comments [8:10 AM Apr 6th from web]
